Showered in Love & Lace

As we quickly approach the 4-month mark, I thought I'd already gotten past the "Oh, gosh...This is actually happening!" stage of wedding planing. Well, this past weekend my bridesmaid Cat and MOH Schmo threw me the most amazing bridal shower, and the whole time I kept thinking, "This is really for me? Because I'm the bride? WHOA."

Because I go to school so far from home, Schmo (who's my college roommate) and Cat (who've I've known since freshman year) really wanted to throw me a bridal shower for my college friends who probably wouldn't have been able to make it to Lancaster for my "real" shower at the end of the summer. When they asked me what kind of party I wanted, I told them to do whatever their little hearts desired, and I made sure they knew that I would be thrilled with whatever they came up with. I wasn't expecting to have two bridal showers, so the fact that they were willing to plan an additional party made me feel like the luckiest bride-to-be.

I figured out pretty quickly that they were planning a lingerie shower when Schmo nonchalantly asked me what my bra and underwear sizes are. Well...she tried to be nonchalant. Bra and underwear sizes aren't exactly everyday conversation in our room, so I was able to catch on to the "theme" of the day pretty fast. Cat and Schmo did an awesome job keeping all the details of the party a mystery until the day of, even when I tried to asked for hints (Hey, a girl's gotta know what to wear!). While I definitely had some ideas of what I thought they might be planning, I was totally blown away by the amount of work they put into everything. I'm pretty sure I said, "Oh my gosh, this is so cute! The cupcakes are cute! OOH, the drinks! These cookies--CUTE!" a hundred times during the course of a couple hours. I was truly amazed by all the little details and, of course, the photographer in me had to bust out my camera to take pictures of it all.

I'm pretty sure Schmo and Cat are two of the craftiest, most creative ladies I've ever met...

These "MR" and "MRS" letters will be making an appearance at the wedding (and let's be real, my future house), since Cat and Schmo tried to find decorations that I could re-use. They found these letters at Michaels and spray-painted them gold to match both the theme of the lingerie party and also my wedding. Seriously, these ladies thought of everything!

These little cupcakes may have been my favorite little detail of the entire party. Every cupcake was adorned with a different paper "set" of undies, and I couldn't get over how stinkin cute these were. They were also funfetti flavored, which everyone knows is the best kind of cupcake there is.

Schmo and Cat planned a few activities for the evening and let me take my throne of bridal honor before the fun began...

Having never been to a lingerie shower before, I honestly had no idea what to expect (other than to be showered with underwear, of course). I would be lying if I said I wasn't at least a bit nervous for what they may have planned, but I was excited to see what they'd been working so hard on. The first "activity" my guests did was decorate a pair of undies for Mr. C and I for our wedding night. Yes. I felt as awkward as one can when their friends are using puffy paint on whitey tighties for my future husband...

And of course I had to choose my favorite set...which happened to have a dachshund and a convenient crotch hole. I was embarrassed so many times during the course of a couple hours but man, was it fun.

I opened presents next, which was equal parts hilarious and awkward. Seeing what each of my friends gave me was the most fun part...their personalities really did show through their lingerie of choice! Let's just say I have a vast assortment of pretty little things to get me started as a married woman, and Mr. C is going to be one happy dude.

To finish off the evening, Schmo and Cat planned a girly craft--painting stemless wine glasses with glitter nail polish (the epitome of a Pinterest craft!). These doubled as their favors, and each girl got to take home their wine glass and all the nail polish that was inside of it.

I really could not wipe a smile off of my face the entire evening, even if I tried. To think that my best friends put so much time and effort into throwing me this party, and that my friends took time out of their Saturday night to come celebrate with me...my heart was so, so full. While I greatly enjoyed being "the bride", I really didn't want to make the night all about me. More than anything, I loved that I was able to get together with all of my close college girlfriends before we graduate and go our separate ways in a few short weeks. Being able to have such a fun, relaxing evening with them was all that I could have asked for, and this bridal shower far surpassed any expectations I had. I am beyond appreciative for all the work Schmo and Cat put into this party, and I still cannot believe it was for me. Luckiest. Bride. Ever.
